the christian growth is all about progression. my walk with Christ is matured compared to others, but comparisons are shallow, in it of themselves. i would say that my walk is maturing and the one thing God's opened my eyes to this year has been is the genuine importance of brotherhood and the existence of it.
from a firsthand experience, i can tell you, my walk hasn't been all grass and flowers, but it's road that's beaten with unpaved roads, hills, and valleys (like the metaphor?). but one of the things that has gotten through is indefinitely accountability. it is the fundamental starting point (besides the acknowledgment of God) of a youth group and from this past winter retreat (mid January), God has opened my eyes to the very movement He's stirring. i'm excited to see what God has in store yet anxious because of how dangerous retreats have turned into within the Church today, especially youth groups. this spiritual high, they call it, has the lifespan of a couple of days, and my prayer focus has been delivered by God:
break their hearts. crush their dreams. crush their ambitions. crush their self-righteousness. may You, Father, be their dream. may You be their ambition. may You be their righteousness. may they not depend upon Your forgiveness but may they be humbled by it. may this youth group love one another because it's not that we recognized You as Savior, but it was You first who realized our perfection. perfection does exists within our imperfection and may this youth group be struck by this concept. You satisfy better than mundane hopes and You deliver sweeter than any product or career a GPA can offer. We are Yours.
1 corinthians 12:26 : If one member suffers, all suffer together. if one member is honored, let us all rejoice together.
